1% for Humanity® obtains written commitments from businesses to donate at least 1% of their annual sales revenue to approved nonprofit organizations on an ongoing basis.  Each Member business chooses which organization(s) they wish to support from our approved nonprofits list.  They may also request additional nonprofits to be added to this list.

Member donations are given DIRECTLY from the businesses to the nonprofit(s) they choose to support.  1% for Humanity does not collect the donations or distribute them to the nonprofits.  For accountability, we certify each member's donations through an annual reporting process.

The 1% for Humanity mark is licensed to members for use in their own product and marketing materials. This allows them to consistently communicate their commitment and also provides momentum for the 1% for Humanity movement.  Each member is listed on our website, where consumers can search for participants and link directly to their sites.

Members pay a minimal annual membership fee to 1% for Humanity, which helps support the development and administration of our membership program. This fee amount varies according to a sliding scale based on a member's annual revenues, and may be applied towards the 1% donation commitment. Our services cost nothing to the nonprofits we support.
